Great Explorations in Math and Science (GEMS) Pre-School and Early Elementary WorkshopGEMS is designed to capture the imagination using essential science and math themes, concepts and methods. Developed by the University of Berkeley’s Lawrence Hall of Science, GEMS Teacher Guides utilize a child's natural curiosity about his/her environment to teach math as well as reading, social science, art, and science. This workshop will feature activities from two guides. “Buzzing a Hive” explores the complex social behavior, communication, and hive environment of the honey bee through activities that mix art, literature and role-play drama. “Eggs Eggs Everywhere” highlights age-appropriate concepts in life science.
