Half-Pint Program

Calling all Half-Pint Scientists!

Join us for a special time dedicated to preschoolers and their designated adult. Come and explore the world of hands-on science from a kids-eye view.  Half-Pint Programs are 1½ hours that include four hands-on science activities, time to explore Kid’s Central, and a snack. Fee includes admission to Science Central.

Ages: 2 to 5

Cost: $8/Member, $12/Non-Member, for 1 Child with 1 Adult.

Additional Children and/or Adult: $4/Member, $6/Non-Member. Check-in: 12:30-1:00pm.  Program: 1:00-2:30 pm.

Tree Homes

Wednesday, January 11

Help your half-pint scientist discover the importance of trees to the animals that live in them.  We will explore the parts of a tree and build a child-sized cardboard tree.  Then we will learn about tree home shelters by role playing baby and parent raccoons.

3,2,1 Blast Off!

Wednesday, February 1

Today you will learn all about how animals take care of their babies.  Become a parent penguin keeping your egg warm, make a baby opossum and a pouch to carry her in and model a baby elephant’s trunk by putting together your own elephant squirter.

Engineer's in Training

Picture your child as an astronaut as they suit up for an afternoon of out-of-this-world fun.  We will blast off rockets, dress as astronauts and make astronaut food.

Games Galore

When they examine the math and science in fun everyday games, half-pint scientists will have so much fun they won’t even realize they are learning.  We will mix colors in a shaving cream squish bag, play button sorting games and make our own I Spy games to play at home.

Wild, Wet Science

Does your preschooler like water? We will experiment to find out what sinks and floats, make an ocean in a bottle and much, much more. It’s sure to be a splashing good time!
