POSITION: Floor Programs Coordinator
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Entry-level management position; involvement with informal, hands-on, educational science center programs (physical, natural and applied); assist in the development, and lead in the scheduling and presentation of all public and school programs in the building; audiences include schools, community centers, scout groups, families, etc; programs include demonstrations, exhibit interpretation, tabletops, classes/labs; responsible for the daily operations, scheduling and management of the programs; schedule and manage part-time staff.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Be incredibly prepared and flexible (review field trip and staff schedules); very responsible and organized, time- and detail-oriented; be creative (experience in program development and script writing, comfort with and interest in science and education); have exceptional public speaking abilities (comfortable working with audiences of all sizes/ ages/backgrounds, outgoing, energetic, enthusiastic); professional in attitude and appearance; skilled in staff training; do moderate lifting (approx. 40 lbs.)
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have or be taking college science classes; ability to develop complex staff and program schedules; experience in the informal science education field preferred; experience with and ability to manage part-time staff; comparable work experience
SCHEDULE: Approx. 25 hours per week to include 2 or 3 weekdays and Saturdays and Sundays; schedule will include holidays and could include some evenings; must be flexible
SALARY: $11.00/hour, limited time-off benefits, no medical benefits

POSITION: Part-Time Educators
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Involvement with informal, hands-on, educational science center programs (physical, natural and applied sciences); assist in the development and presentation of public, school, scout and special programs; audiences include schools, teachers, community centers, scout groups, families, etc; programs include demonstrations, exhibit interpretation, classes/labs, science camps, birthday parties, outreaches.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Be incredibly prepared and flexible; very responsible and organized, time- and detail-oriented; be creative; comfort with and interest in science and education; have exceptional public speaking abilities, comfortable working with audiences of all sizes/ ages/backgrounds, outgoing, energetic, enthusiastic; professional in attitude and appearance; do moderate lifting (approx. 40 lbs.)
QUALIFICATIONS: College science classes; experience in public speaking and/or teaching; experience in the informal science education field preferred.
SCHEDULE: Approx. 20 hours per week, but variable; schedule could include weekends, holidays and evenings; must be flexible
SALARY: $7-9/hour based on experience, limited time-off benefits

POSITION: Visitor Services Specialists POSITION DESCRIPTION: Involvement in an informal, hands-on, educational science center (physical, natural and applied sciences); represent Science Central as the first staff that visitors see when they enter the building; sell admission tickets and memberships; sell items in the Gift Store; greet school groups and special groups into the building; deal with issues such as lost kids or upset visitors in a tactful manner; communicate with visitors and staff in a courteous and professional way.
REQUIRED SKILLS Must like people; prepared and flexible; responsible and organized; creative problem solver; sense of humor; interest in science; comfortable working with customers of all types/ages/backgrounds; friendly, outgoing, energetic, enthusiastic; professional in attitude and appearance; do moderate lifting (approx. 40 lbs.).
QUALIFICATIONS: Previous work experience and/or educational training in the customer service, hospitality or cultural sector; experience with cash handling and cash register operations is preferred.
SCHEDULE: Approx. 20 hours per week, but variable; schedule could include weekends, holidays and evenings; must be flexible.
SALARY: Part-time, $7.50/hour, limited time-off benefits.
