Special Public Programming

Below is a list of some of our public programs. Please call Lou Papai at 260-424-2400 ext. 442 for more information, or click on the links when available.

  • IPFW Lunch with a Scientist: Science Central and IPFW presents Lunch with a Scientist on the second Saturday of each month during the school year. Participants can ask questions and learn with a local IPFW scientist. The cost is $6 for Science Central Members and $12 for non-members and includes lunch!

  • Educator Workshops: Superstar educators from throughout the area do encore presentations of their greatest classroom hits! Sessions include roller coaster mechanics, bioluminescence, the revised state proficiencies and much, much more! Registering now for the ERC Open House, NASA Workshop, and the Fall Teacher Workshop!!!

  • Women in Science Day: Visitors are able to sample the significant contributions of Women in Science throughout history. Scientific re-enactors join with prominent local scientists to celebrate women’s accomplishments in science.

  • Middle School Bridge Building Competition: Held during National Engineers Week, Bridges built with glue and Popsicle sticks compete for the honor of strongest bridge!

  • Northeast Indiana Robot Games (NEIRG): Let the games begin! Middle and high school participants use a micro mouse robot , built and programmed in advance, to push an opponent’s robot out of a ring. . Rules and details are available upon request.

  • Science Fair Recognition Day: Local elementary schools send 2 students and their projects to Science Central to display their winning ways! Student Scientists share their projects with Science Central visitors and then take time to enjoy Science Central exhibits!

  • Life is Cool! (aka Body Parts ala Carte): Sponsored by Indiana Organ Procurement Organization, this event gives visitors the opportunity to learn about organ donation , the effects of smoking on human lungs and even witness a cow eye dissection!

  • School Group Overnights: Overnight campers participate in hands-on science workshops, have pizza and explore the exhibits. In the morning, enjoy a light breakfast before leaving. Cost is $15 for adults and $30 for students.

  • Winter/Spring/Summer Break Camps and Preschool Programs: Science Central hosts several popular camps that encompass the joys of physics, chemistry, natural science and more! Half-Pint runs throughout the year, once per month, for preschoolers ages 3 to 6, and their special adult. Winter, Spring and Summer Break Camps are conveniently scheduled to dove-tail with the Fort Wayne School District calendar and provide full-day experiments and fun!
