Summer Camp FAQ
What are the hours of day camp?
Different camps have different hours. Below are the starting and ending times.
Standard & Extreme Camps 9:00 am to 4:00 pm** Special Needs Camp 10:00 am to 3:00 pm LEGO 8:30 am to 12:30 pm or 1:00 pm to 5:00 pmSmall Fry Camps 9:00 am to 12:00 pm Snoozeums 8:00 pm to 8:00 am **For an additional fee, campers at these camps can be dropped off as early as 8:00 a.m. and picked up as late as 5:00 p.m. This requires pre-registration.
What will my child do at camp?
Below is a basic schedule that is subject to change.
Check-in and self-directed floor exploration 9:00 am One hour sessions with activities and experiments. 9:30, 11:30, 1:00, and 3:00 Snack/Directed Floor Exploration 10:30 am and 2:00 pm Lunch and Directed Floor Exploration Noon Demonstration/Subject-Appropriate Video 2:30 pm Check-Out Begins 3:45 pm
What are drop off and pick up policies?
We require that an adult bring into the building and pick up your child each day. We will have you fill out a form and will require you to sign out your child at the end of the day.
How is my child supervised throughout the day?
The following ratios of adult-to-child are maintained at all times: Standard, Extreme and Snoozeums…............8 children to 1 adult Special Needs Camps ……………………….4 children to 1 adult LEGO............................………………………..9 children to 1 adult Small Fry Camps………………………….......6 children to 1 adult
Will my child leave the building?
We may go outside for certain activities or over to Lawton Park, occasionally. It is a good idea to apply sun screen and insect repellent prior to camp.
When and what does my child eat?
We provide two snacks for full-day camps and one for half-day camps. You must provide a lunch for your child for full- day camps.* Campers may use the vending machines at lunch and at the afternoon snack session, but it is not encouraged. *Extreme campers lunches are provided on Fridays.
What is Science Central’s refund policy?
Full refunds are available two weeks prior to camp. After this date, no refunds will be issued unless a physician’s note can verify absence.
