Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day
Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day – February 28 at Science Central
Celebrate women in STEM and spark the next generation of innovators at Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day at Science Central on Saturday, February 28. This inspiring, hands-on event is designed to increase visibility, opportunity, and access for girls and women to explore the many pathways available in science, technology, engineering, and math. Meet women engineers and learn how problem-solving and design thinking shape real-world innovation.
Guests will participate in interactive engineering activities, attend live demonstrations, and connect with women and others currently pursuing STEM careers and interests. Highlights include Straw Glider engineering activities led by BAE Systems volunteers, a mastodon storytime, and a museum search for tiny mastodons throughout Science Central.
We are proud to thank L3Harris for sponsoring this event and supporting the Worldwide Weather Demonstration in our Science On a Sphere® exhibit, bringing global science and data visualization to life.
Additional partners and features include:
- Purdue Fort Wayne is showcasing a 3D scanner used on the baby mastodon skull, plus an engaging talk on dinosaur footprints and mastodons (11 AM – 12 PM)
- Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana–Michiana with an interactive engagement table
- Hands-on engineering exploration stations throughout the museum
- Welcoming our new mastodon skull, baby Edgar!
From building gliders to exploring advanced technology, this event is about representation, inspiration, and possibility—showing girls what’s available to them and helping them imagine themselves in STEM futures.
