Science on a Sphere is a permanent exhibit that can recreate the Earth and other stellar bodies in a stunning three-dimensional format. The exhibit consists of a suspended 50-pound, carbon-fiber sphere that measures six feet in diameter. The sphere is encircled by four projectors that work in tandem to create the illusion that the Earth, or one of its stellar neighbors, is hovering right before visitors’ eyes!
The technology behind Science on a Sphere was created by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The exhibit is located in Science Central’s AEP Foundation Theater.
