Policies and Procedures
All students must be registered at least seven days prior to each program date. This would be the Tuesday before the Tuesday program. You will receive an email confirmation containing barcoded tickets. Bring them on the day of your program.
If you need to cancel a registration, you must contact Science Central at least seven days prior to the program date. Refunds are only given seven days prior to event day.
Walk-ins will not be permitted on the day of an event.
All programs are subject to change at Science Central’s discretion.
An EMA form must be filled out for each registered student. This form is where you will provide emergency contact information, as well as any medical issues and/or allergies that we should be aware of to provide the best experience for your student. This form will be kept on file for the entirety of the school year, but will not be able to be used for other programs (ex: Camps, Coding Club).
We prefer that you complete the online form and submit it electronically at least seven days prior to your first registered program date. You will receive information on how to access the form in your confirmation email.
For safety reasons, a student will not be permitted to stay for the program if they do not have a completed EMA form submitted.
Science Matters check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. each month. Check-in takes place at the admissions desk inside Science Central, so individuals dropping off their student(s) must accompany them inside.
Every month at check-in, you will first show your barcoded ticket to a staff member at the front desk to scan. You will then need to sign-in your student. During check-in, if you did not already complete it online, you will also turn in your completed EMA form to the staff member at the front desk. After your student is signed in, they will receive a wristband for the program and then a staff member will escort them to their classroom for the program.
Science Matters check-out begins at approximately 11:15 a.m. Check-out for Science Matters is inside Science Central, so individuals picking up their student(s) must come inside to get them. Only approved (listed on the EMA) individuals may sign-out students. Guardians picking up students will be asked to sign a sign-out sheet with a staff member before they are able to take their student(s).
If you are more than 15 minutes late to pick up your student, you will be charged $15 for every 5 minutes past pick-up time, based on our clock. If you are more than one hour late to pick-up your child, the Fort Wayne Police Department will be notified.
Science Central and the media frequently take photos/videos of visitors which may be used for future Science Central promotions or publicity. These photos may be used without your consent and without compensation. If you do not want your image used, please avoid photographers and inform them of your desire. As a visitor, you are welcome to take photos for non-commercial use at Science Central.
