Science Matters Frequently Asked Questions
What time does everything start?
An early arrival time of at least 15 minutes is recommended! The check-in process will occur at the Admissions desk, with scanning your child’s ticket for the program, then your student(s) will receive a wristband to designate what group they’re in and their schedule for the day’s program.
Can children attend by themselves?
Yes! Students will need to be signed in by a parent or guardian, then they will be escorted to their lab and demonstration by a Science Central staff member. Parents simply need to come inside for the check-in and check-out process of the program.
With this new format, are parents/families allowed to stay in the building for the duration of the program?
Absolutely! Parents, siblings, and/or any other family members not participating in the program are more than welcome to remain in the building for the day’s program. They will simply need to pay regular, full-price General Admission at the front desk when checking in their student(s) for the program, or use their Science Central membership. General Admission tickets can also be purchased on our website! Due to capacity constraints, parents and other family members will not be able to sit in the demonstration theater during the Afternoon Science demonstration.
Will students have time to explore the exhibit floor during the Afternoon Science program?
The new structure of the Science Matters program includes a 45 minute lab and 30 minute demonstration. For families wishing to have time to explore our engaging exhibits, we recommend arriving early before the program or exploring the exhibit floor after you’ve signed out your student from the program. Anyone wishing to explore will need to check-in with the Admissions desk prior to going out on the museum floor.
