Science Central recognizes that our Mission to be a regional resource that provides inspiring and fun hands-on science education for all people of all ages is as important as your health and safety.

As we begin making plans, with the goal of being able to reopen soon, Science Central is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for staff and our visitors, even as we navigate through this challenging time.

Upon reopening we would hope that your families and friends see us as a safe and engaging venue of informal science education. Let’s all use the best defense we have, knowledge. Let’s remember that the COVID-19 virus is still with us and just as concerning as before the state put into place a measured return to a ‘new’ normal. Join with us in fighting this international crisis.

UPDATE 5/18/2020:  Onsite Summer STEM Camps from June 8th through June 28th have been canceled, but we are offering new activities. These will include science kits you can do at home as well as live interaction with Science Central educators. If you are registered for any of these programs you will be contacted soon!

Science Central is handicapped-accessible. The entrance has automatic doors and an elevator at Entry Level. 
Several handicapped-accessible parking spaces are located immediately in front of the building, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. All exhibits and restrooms are wheelchair-friendly, with the exception of the High Rail Bike and Confusion Illusion room.

Vending Machines & Dining Area

Vending machines are located in the lower level dining area, and tables are available on a first-come, first served basis.  You may bring your own food and beverages into the dining area, but please do not take food or beverages onto the exhibit floor. 
If you would like to leave the facility for food, please stop by Admissions to get a hand-stamp so you can easily return later.  A variety of family-friendly restaurants are located within a short drive from Science Central. 
Lawton Park is also located within walking distance, immediately adjacent to Science Central, and offers additional picnic areas, as well as a playground. 


Science Central offers free coat racks and shelves to store lunches or coolers.  Science Central does not assume responsibility for the security of unattended items.  Secure (lockable) lockers are available for .50 cents per day.  Lost locker keys will incur a replacement fee charge of $11.


Science Central offers free parking on a first-come, first-served basis.  Additional overflow parking is available within easy walking distance in Lawton Park. 

For Little Ones

Free loaner strollers are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Diaper changing stations are available in both the Men's and Women's restrooms on the lower level, and in the Kids Central Family Restroom. Nursing nooks are available in the lower level Women's Restroom, and in the Kids Central Family Restroom. If your little one gets a little too excited at the water table, we also have free loaner clothing available, and a clothes dryer.  Please note that available loaner clothing sizes are very limited.
